In New York, the racist population was at large. Their where many different occasions where African Americans where either shot, beaten, or killed. At Howard Beach, NY, a crowd of white teenagers ambushed four African American men, as they came out of a local pizzeria. These African American men where named: Cederic Sandiford, Timothy Grimes, Michael Griffith and Curtis Sylvster. The gang was made up by 12 teenagers, averaging about 17 years of age. Two of these four black men where killed, and the one to survive was found by the police, severely beaten. The four leaders of the lynch mob where prosecuted for manslaughter, second degree murder, and first degree assault charges. Three of these men where sent to prison, the fourth got off scott free. This was a huge step in realizing that racism should never be brought this far, or anywhere at all. This is a bill that was almost passed in Missouri, it's purpose was to look into the eviction of African American's and to then decide if they where unlawfully evicted. If they where, they would be recompensed for their troubles. This bill was not passed because of the rule that every two years anything that congress did not look into was to be cleared of the records. This Bill also states that ample time would be spent investigating the expulsion, so that people couldn't just lie about being evicted and gain money. The Black Panther Party. These words would often inspire hope in African Americans with their righteousness and straight minded approach to helping the larger African American Community. The Black Panther Party(BPP) was founded so that they could monitor police activity and make sure that blacks were being treated fairly. They also make sure that african Americans who are more fortunate help out their less fortunate neighbors, siblings, and friends. The Black Panther Party mostly supported African Americans being their own, independent, society. The BPP Is not to be confused with a charity group, no, they where a militant group. They where not afraid to fight for what they wanted. The BPP where poorly organized, however and where soon disbanded because of legal issues, and internal leaks. This Party was a proud addition to African American history, and the brave souls who died for them will always be remembered.
